The lead Scientist monitoring the eruption of La Soufriere Volcano has warned of the danger of pyroclastic flows, which could occur during this explosive phase.

Geologist, Professor Richard Robertson provided a detailed explanation of this particular hazard, as he provided an update on activity at the volcano.

Professor Robertson said a pyroclastic flow is likely to destroy everything in its path.

The alert level at the volcano remains at RED, and the National Emergency Operations Center continues to be fully functional, operating on a twenty-four hour basis.
