The 5th and final Test between England and India has been cancelled

The 5^th and final Test between England and India which was to have started this morning at Old Trafford, Manchester, England has been cancelled.

A statement released earlier this morning from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said: “Following ongoing conversations with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the ECB can confirm that the 5^th Test between England and India due to start today has been cancelled due to fears of a further increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the camp, India are regrettably unable to field a team.

We send our sincere apologies to fans and partners for this news, which we know will cause immense disappointment and inconvenience to many.”

It means that the series will finish at 2-2.
