Nephrologist at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital Dr. Twanna Browne-Caesar is urging individuals to get their kidneys checked, warning that early-stage kidney disease often presents no symptoms.
In an interview with NBC News, Dr. Browne-Caesar underlines that kidney disease can progress silently, with many individuals unaware of any issues until the condition has reached an advanced stage.
World Kidney Day is observed on March 13 globally. This Year’s theme is: “Are Your Kidneys OK? Detect Early, Protect Kidney Health.” Dr Browne Caesar is calling for routine screenings, especially for those with a family history of kidney disease, diabetes, and hypertension, which she explains are critical in detecting issues early.
Dr. Browne-Caesar notes that several other illnesses can present with symptoms similar to advanced kidney disease, adding that the only way to be certain is to get tested.
