The Department of Culture is taking steps to empower young Vincentians to tell their stories and embrace technology.
The Department hosted training sessions this month which focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital storytelling, photography and creative media production.
The programme, dubbed Framing the Future engaged twenty young people between the ages of 12 and 17.
Participants received insight on how to use AI responsibly as a creative tool, while documenting, re-imagining and sharing stories connected to their communities and Vincentian Heritage.
Throughout the programme, participants explored: Photography and visual storytelling; AI and responsible use; Community Heritage Documentation; AI assisted creative content development; Digital storytelling and presentation; Creative problem solving and collaboration; and Ethical use of emerging technologies.
The programme was co-ordinated by Shanique Stewart, Visual Arts Development Officer within the Department of Culture.
The sessions were facilitated by Akley Olton and Colin Browne, who
supported the participants as they developed their creative and digital skills.
The training culminated with a graduation ceremony on Friday, August 14th at the IT Lab of the Thomas Saunders Secondary School.
