The Sexual Offences Unit of the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force is today hosting a Survivor Empowerment Workshop at the Black Point Golden Years Activity Centre.
The event is being held with the theme: Surviving. Thriving. Moving Forward. Building a Better SELF.
A release from the Police says this initiative goes beyond the investigation of sexual offences, and recognises that the effects of abuse can continue long after an incident has been reported.
It noted that recovery requires support, information, encouragement and spaces in which survivors can begin to rebuild with confidence.
The release noted that the Sexual Offences Unit is continuing to strengthen its engagement with survivors, through initiatives such as today’s workshop, while reinforcing the message that surviving not the end of the journey.
It stressed that healing, growth and empowerment also matter.
The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force says it remains committed to protecting vulnerable persons, supporting survivors and working with communities and partner agencies to confront sexual violence in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
