Six Marine Parks will receive support next year through the Sustainable Grenadines Inc. SUSGREN as part of the second phase of a project entitled: Strengthening Reef Management in the Grenada Bank .

A release from SUSGREN says these marine protected areas include three from St. Vincent and the Grenadines: the Tobago Cays Marine Park; the Mustique Marine Conservation Area and the South Coast Marine Conservation Area.

It also includes three from Grenada: Sandy Island Oyster Bed, Molinere-Beausejour and Woburn-Clarks Court Marine Protected Area

The Grenadines Network of Marine Protected Areas which was established two years ago seek to promote collaboration among  marine protected areas, related agencies and communities.

Its objective is to promote effective management and to share experiences in the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources.

The project that takes place in two phases is funded by the US national   fish and wildlife foundation through the Sustainable Grenadines Inc.

The second phase, which begin in January next year, will focus on enforcement, harmonization of monitoring and evaluation activities and enhanced outreach and collaboration with communities.

The participating Marine Protected Areas will receive tailored assistance to support activities in these areas.
