As the national recovery effort continues here, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says the Government will be taking steps this year to strengthen this country’s capacity to respond to and manage Disasters and their risks.

The Prime Minister outlined the Government’s plans to achieve this goal, as he presented the 2014 Budget Address in Parliament this week.

Dr. Gonsalves said a review is to be carried out this year of the operations of the National Emergency Management Organisation NEMO.

The Prime Minister said provisions have been made in the 2014 capital estimates to support this capacity building programme.
