Local telecommunications provider Digicel, is continuing this week to give support to the National Recovery Effort, by distributing relief supplies to persons on the windward side of the island.

Digicel’s Marketing Manager, Juno Deroche outlined the steps being taken by the company to help those who were affected by the December floods, during a ceremony held in Buccament last Friday.

During the ceremony, over sixty residents in the Buccument area were presented with refrigerators, stoves and mattresses, by the Government purchased with funds donated by the Chairman of the Digicel Group, Dennis O’Brien.

Miss Deroche said Digicel assisted affected persons on the leeward side of the island last week and staff members will be travelling to the windward on a similar mission this week.

The appliances were distributed following a commitment given by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, to help persons who had lost their possessions in the floods to get back on their feet.

A team of Government officials travelled to Buccament last Friday to start the distribution process, which is expected to continue in the coming weeks.
