The Forestry Department is encouraging persons to desist from conducting unhealthy practices in the nation’s rivers, which have the potential to destroy the delicate ecosystem.

The advice came from Forestry Supervisor Casmus McLeod, as he discussed issues relating to river conservation during NBC’s face to face program this week.

Mr. McLeod said the Forestry Department is concerned about numerous practices such as the washing of vehicles, utilizing chemicals such as diesel and detergents, which are detrimental to the river’s ecosystem.
