The Seismic Research Centre of the University of the West Indies said it will continue its thrust to educate the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the region on geological hazards.

The commitment came from Education Officer at the UWI Seismic Research Center, Stacey Edwards, during NBC’s Face to Face programme last week.

The center is partnering with the National Emergency Management Organization to host a number of activities to observe the 35th anniversary of the 1979 eruption of the La Soufriere volcano on April 13th.

Mrs. Edwards explained that the Center utilizes a targeted approach in its public awareness campaign.
Mrs. Edwards said much of the programmes are designed to target students throughout the school system.
