Stakeholders in the Ministry of Health will continue deliberations today on the government’s quest to have Universal Health Coverage for nationals.

Representatives from the Public and Private Sectors, as well as Financial Institutions are involved in discussions here on a draft strategy document on Universal Health Coverage,

The forum, organized by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), began yesterday at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health Luis DeShong says the consultation is geared at transforming the country’s health system.

Meanwhile … Chief Medical Officer Dr. Simone Keizer-Beache says the seminar will provide a forum to explore opportunities for collaboration and networking in achieving Universal Health Coverage for all.

And … Executive Director of the National Insurance Services Reginald Thomas is of the view that social security has an important role to play in the government’s quest to have universal health coverage for nationals.
