A two day Sensitization Workshop to counter Human Trafficking is being held here this week.

A number of Senior Public Officers from within the Government Sector are attending the workshop, which is being hosted by the Ministry of National Security in collaboration with the United States Office of Migration.

Speaking at this morning’s opening ceremony Minister of Foreign Affairs Camillo Gonsalves said between 2011 and 2014 this country devoted a great deal of attention to human trafficking through a number of projects and initiatives.

Minister Gonsalves said the society was built on forced migration hundreds of years ago hence the reason why steps must be taken to ensure that human trafficking does not take root in this country.

The workshops are being conducted by Regional Coordinator and other Officials from the International Organization for Migration IOM at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Conference Room.
