The local fisheries sector is continuing to make a significant contribution to the national economy.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves outlined the extent of this contribution, as he delivered the feature address at the Prize-Giving and Awards Ceremony held at the Calliaqua Playing Field yesterday afternoon, to mark the close of the Fisherman’s Month of activities.
The Prime Minister disclosed that the fishing Industry contributes over ten million dollars annually to the economy of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
He also noted that over two thousand persons are directly involved in the Fishing Industry, and more than two thousand are indirectly involved.
