
Chief Executive Officer of the International Airport Development Company (IADC), Dr. Rudy Matthias has said the Argyle International Airport is on the verge of completion, and will likely be opened by the middle of this year.
Dr. Matthias gave this assurance during a Media Conference held at the Argyle airport site last Friday.
He said the IADC is now putting systems in place for the start of operations of the Airport.
Meanwhile, a meeting involving Government Ministers; Airport Officials and Senior Civil Servants was held at the Airport Site on Friday morning to discuss progress being made on the Airport project.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves who attended the meeting said the discussions focused on several issues including the outstanding volume of earth works to be completed, drainage work, production and placement of asphalt and matters on the completion of the perimeter fencing.
The Prime Minister also took the time and expressed appreciation to everyone who assisting and assisted with the construction of the Airport.
The Argyle Airport project is being constructed at a cost of over 700-million EC dollars.
