The Ministry of Education is seeking to address the issue of Student absenteeism in schools here.
This was one of the issues raised by Chief Education Officer Louann Gilchrist during the National Awards Ceremony on Friday.
She said a School Attendance Officer has been appointed to look into school attendance rates.
Ms. Gilchrist also highlighted the need for parents to be fully engaged in the education of their children.
The Ceremony was held to celebrate the Scholastic Achievement of students in the 2015 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate CSEC and Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment Examination CPEA.
