Grenada and St. Lucia gained first innings honours in Round (2) matches of the Senior Men’s Windward Islands Two-Day Cricket Championship in Grenada yesterday.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines resumed on their overnight 325 for 5 at the National Stadium at St. George’s, went on to declare on 353 for 8; Captain, Sunil Ambris 125, Donwell Hector 101.

Grenada batted all day and ended on 356 for 9, thanks to a last wicket unbeaten stand of 56 from Craig Phillips batting at Number (11). He remained on 64, including seven sixes and two fours and John Thomas batting at Number (10), he got 13 not out, other contributors includes Ryan John 55, Rudolph Paul 53, Devon Smith 37. Casmond Walters took 3 for 100 and Kenneth Dembar grabbed 3 for 102.

St. Lucia gained their first innings points over defending champions, Dominica at Progress Park. Dominica, who batted first scored 209 in their first innings and in their second innings closed on 208 for 2 when play was called off; Jerlani Robinson 86, Tyrone Theophile 80. St. Lucia in their only innings scored 260.

The third and final Round to be played on Thursday and Friday pits St. Vincent and the Grenadines versus Dominica at La Sagesse and Grenada against St. Lucia at Progress Park.

Today is a rest day in the Championship.
