There was an Official Launch this morning for activities to mark this country’s 37th Independence Anniversary. The month-long programme of activities will be celebrated under the theme: Working together to Enhance National Pride.
The activities includes the Annual Lion’s Club Public Speaking Competition; the KCCU National Dance Finals; the School’s Independence Rally; the Public Service Patriotic Exhibition and the Annual Military Parade.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Cecil McKie, said he is pleased with the variety of programmes and activities planned commemorate the nation’s independence.
Minister Mckie said that there a great deal collaboration between his ministry and a number of local groups and organizations to put together the Independence activities.
He expects this will result in tangible benefits for all those involved.
