Director of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, NTRC, Apollo Knights said work has resumed on the regional implementation of Number Portability following devastation caused by a number of hurricanes in the region last year.
Number Portability enables Mobile and Fixed Line telephone users to keep their telephone numbers when changing from one network operator to another.
Mr. Knights said a meeting was held in St. Lucia on Wednesday and Thursday of this week to carry forward the process of having Number Portability implemented in five Caribbean nations and work is ongoing to have number portability functional in the region by the last quarter of this year.
