A two-day Inter-sectoral Workshop will be held here from today, to update the National Food Based Dietary Guidelines of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The workshop will be hosted by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Transformation, Forestry, Fisheries, Industry and Labour, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

The forum is being convened to raise awareness about the importance of the Food Based Dietary Guidelines; to review the methodology proposed by FAO to update the Guidelines; to define tasks and responsibilities of the members of the committee; and to present the results of the current evaluation of the Guidelines.

The workshop will be facilitated by FAO International Nutrition Consultant, Veronika Molina and held at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Health from nine this morning. The opening ceremony is expected to be addressed by the Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Luke Browne.

The Project to evaluate, update and disseminate the National Food Based Dietary Guidelines is being implemented at a cost of approximately US$94,000.00.
