The local agricultural sector is expected to benefit significantly from a Smart IoT technology system to be introduced by Taiwan’s Technical Mission.
The technology is being introduced, in response to the growing impacts of climate change, and is designed to capture, monitor, and report critical environmental and operational data in real time.
Speaking with NBC News, Head of the Taiwan Technical Mission Kevin Lin explained that the smart device will deliver continuous, accurate information essential for understanding changing conditions and improving the ability to respond quickly and effectively.
Mr. Lin noted that with the implementation of this technology, the young farmers will not need to be in the field, as most students already have access to digital devices.
A Graduation Ceremony was held last Friday at the Orange Hill Biotechnology Centre, for the first cohort of the Agricultural Productivity Recovery and Young Farmers’ Training Project.
The event was hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transformation, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Taiwan Technical Mission.
Participants in the programme were equipped with practical knowledge and skills in agricultural production, with the aim of empowering young farmers to contribute to the expansion and sustainable development of the agriculture sector in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
