The SVG Anti Trafficking In Persons Unit (ATIPU) was launched on April 13th 2012. On the 3rd anniversary of the launch, The Police’s On the Beat programme this past Monday focused on Human Trafficking, what it is, and what are some of the factors that enable it to continue.
Superintendent Jacobs, in charge of the unit, explained what is Human Trafficking.
Station sergeant Junior Simmons, deputy in charge of the ATIPU, added some of the primary causes of Human Trafficking.
The ATIPU has to date, sensitized around 17.000 students, from primary to tertiary level, in schools across SVG
