The 14th Annual Digicel SVG Gospel Festival was officially opened last night at the Victoria Park.

The program dubbed: “Declaring SVG for Jesus” featured an evening of praise and special prayers for the nation.

In his address Chairman of the Gospel Festival Committee Fidel Taylor highlighted some of the challenges faced in hosting the festival, including financing for the festival, attendance, participation, transportation, and security at the venue

Other addresses came from the Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs Jimmy Prince, Minister of Culture Cecil McKie and a representative of the sponsor Digicel.

Appearances were made by local artistes such as Stacey Little, Chad Durrant, Azariah Gibson, Triumph Covenant Dancers, Eldon Morris, Tishorn Edwards and GTT Dancers.

Guest artistes for the show will be the anointed and powerful Evangelist Wendy Mitchell of the USA, Pastor Shirley Simpson of Canada and Blessed messenger of Trinidad.

The Ministry of the Word was done by Rev. Adolph Davis of the Kingstown Methodist Church.

Digicel SVG Gospel Fest is a month long festival of zonal and national gospel showcases across St. Vincent and the Grenadines with performances in music, song, dance and drama that culminate with the National Gospel Showcase on May 1st at the Victoria Park.

The 2016 Festival is being held under the theme: “Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord”.
