Botanical Gardens Rangers crowned VPL Ten Champions after thrilling 9-run win over Grenadines Divers

Botanical Gardens Rangers retained the VINCY Premier League Ten/10 Title at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex here in St Vincent and the Grenadines last night with a 9-run victory over Grenadines Divers in the 2025 Final.

 

Grenadines Divers won the toss, fielded first, and held Botanical Gardens Rangers to 115-6 off their 10 overs after West Indies wicket-keeper/batsman, Andre Fletcher of Grenada made 33 runs off 17 balls, and Keron Cottoy also made 33 off 20 balls.

 

The wickets for Grenadines Divers were shared by off-spinner, Asif Hooper (1-32), left-arm, fast bowler, Obed Mc Coy (1-9), Wesrick Strough (1-21) and Jamar Ifill (1-27). 

 

Grenadines Divers replied with 106-6 off their 10 overs with Salvan Browne (40 off 19 balls) and Asif Hooper (24 off 14 balls).

 

For Botanical Gardens Rangers, Tijourn Hope took 3-25, Darel Cyrus had 2-10, and Roneil Jeffrey finished with 1-23.

 

Andre Fletcher topped the batting with 371 runs for the season. He scored 2 consecutive hundreds and a 50 with a highest of 106 not out, for an average of 46.38, and a strike rate of 239.35.

 

South African, Jacobus Pienear finshed with a total of 349 runs which included the 50s, a highest score of 69, an average of 49.36 and a strike rate of 232.67.

 

They were followed by Dejourn Charles with 304 runs including three 50s with a highest score of 33, an average of 38, and a strike rate 200.

 

Jeheil Walters made 253 runs with two 50s, a highest score of 60, an average 25.3, and a strike rate 183.33.

 

Obed Mc Coy led the bowling with 15 wickets at  8.8 each and an economy rate of 7.76, and was followed by Roneil Jeffrey also with 15 wickets at an average of 12.57, and an economy rate of 10.18. Darel Cyrus finished with 13 wickets, an average of 12.15 and an economy rate of 8.78.

 

Six teams took part in the 6th edition of the Championship – Botanical Gardens Rangers, Dark View Explorers, La Soufriere Hikers, Fort Charlotte Strikers, Grenadines Divers and Salt Pond Breakers.
