Jonas King sank 21 points had, 15 rebounds and one block as Duke beat Warriaz 67-47 in the weekend’s opening First Division (1) match of the 16th Annual Bequia Basketball Association Championships at the Clive Tannis Hard Court in Port Elizabeth, Bequia.

The leading scorer for Warriaz was Warrican Garrick with 13 points and 2 assists.

Duke defeated East Blazers 67-52 in another First Division match. The leading scorer for Duke was Steveon Taylor with 18 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists and Cornelius Farrell with 12 points led the way for East Blazers.

Blazing Heat defeated Rising Stars (2) 42-29 in the Second Division.

Denroy Hutchins with 17 points, 20 rebounds, 3 blocks was Blazing Heat leading scorer. The top scorer for Rising Stars (2) was Kendoll Britton with 8 points.

Titans narrowly edged out Rockets 25-24 in the Under-16 Division. Javid Morgan led the way for Titans with 17 points, 3 steals and one block.

The leading scorer for Rockets was Omario Louie with 15 points.

Denroy Hutchins with 12 points, 24 rebounds and 5 blocks helped guided Blazing Heat to a 54-32 win over Young Duke in the Second Division. The leading scorer for Young Duke was Shea Hazell with 12 points.

The Championship will continue next weekend.
