St. Vincent and the Grenadines were beaten 2-1 by Aruba in their return-leg 2018 FIFA World Cup Football Qualifying match in Aruba last night, but advanced to the next round of the CONCACAF Zone of the World Cup Qualifying Competition, by virtue of a 3-2 win on aggregate after their 2-nil victory at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex on September 4th.
Erik Danso took advantage of some slack defence to put Aruba ahead 4 minutes into last night’s match. In the first five minutes of the second half, Danso scored again to give his team a 2-nil advantage.
Tevin Slater scored St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ goal in the 84th minute after he outran the Aruba defence and chipped the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.
The result has put St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the next round of the Competition where their opponents will be the USA, Trinidad and Tobago and Guatemala. That leg of the Competition will begin in November.
The team is scheduled to return home at 3:00 pm on September 9th, when there will be a Press Conference at the VIP Lounge of the E.T Joshua Airport.
